Teaching Positions in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Company details 
ACET provides high quality English language programmes that prepare students for success in overseas study and their future careers. ACET was established in 2002 as a cooperation between IDP Education and UTS:Insearch, (University of Technology, Sydney). 
ACET operates 5 training centres in Hanoi and HCMC, with approximately 2,000 students enrolled studying intensive and semi-intensive English language courses. ACET employs approximately 100 qualified and experienced teachers. The core programmes offered are Academic English, IELTS and Teens and bespoke corporate language training. ACET has an excellent reputation as the leading provider in Vietnam of English pathway programmes to overseas study.

Position details 
The Director of Studies (DOS) in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is responsible for the coordination of programmes for all of ACET’s students at all three centres in HCMC and leads a team of Assistant Director(s) of Studies; Academic Coordinator(s) as well as a diverse group of local and expatriate teachers. The DOS reports to the Academic Director.

Key Responsibilities 
Academic management: 
• Manage the Academic Team (both teaching and non-teaching staff) 
• Oversee the implementation of all curriculums on all programs 
• Plan and manage the teaching and admin hours allocation 
• Manage all aspects of timetabling accurately and punctually 
• Monitor and evaluate programme outcomes, student feedback and results 
• Conduct teacher appraisals and teaching observations; arrange mentoring as required 
• Assess professional development needs of teaching staff and construct an in-service training (INSET) and professional development programme 
• Conduct regular academic management team meetings and teaching staff meetings 
• Monitor the delivery quality of all programmes 
• Ensure all compliance and quality assurance requirements of UTS INSEARCH and IDP are met or exceeded 
• Satisfactorily complete tri-annual Director or Studies reports to the INSEARCH Dean of Studies

Administration: 
•Oversee and schedule placement testing and student inductions 
•Establish and maintain systems / procedures for all academic programme administration tasks and liaise with the Academic Director to ensure in-house ACET consistency 
•Assist the HR & Admin Manager in finalising salary payments to ACET teaching staff 
•Provide statistical, financial and academic summaries to the Country Manager / Training Centres Manager as required

Product development: 
•Work with the Academic Director on curriculum development and implementation 
•Implement changes or updates to ACET products as required 
•Support the marketing team and sales team 
•Assist with proposals for corporate language training or requests for tender as required 
•Develop course outlines and oversee delivery and reporting of 
bespoke corporate language courses 
•Ad hoc curriculum and assessment product development as required

Other duties: 
•The DOS will work with other members of the ACET management team playing a role relevant to projects in the ACET Strategic Plan 
•Ensure that ACET study options and facilities are readily available to all public and corporate students 
•Demonstrate positive management of internal and external stakeholder relationships

Minimum Qualifications and Experience: 
•2 years year experience as Academic Manager or DoS or similar 
•An undergraduate degree from a recognised university 
•An internationally recognised English language teaching qualification (e.g. CELTA, or equivalent) 
•5 years ELT/TESOL teaching experience in a comparable setting 
•Some experience in teaching Young Learners / Teens is preferred 
•A postgraduate ELT/TESOL qualification, such as Cambridge DELTA, Cambridge IDLTM or a Master’s degree in ELT/TESOL

Preferred Qualifications and Experience 
•5 years year experience as Academic Manager or DoS or similar 
•5 years (EAP) and/or IELTS preparatory teaching experience in a comparable setting 
•Experience in teaching Young Learners / Teens 
•A postgraduate ELT/TESOL qualification, such as Cambridge DELTA, Cambridge IDLTM or a Master’s degree in ELT/TESOL

Necessary Attributes 
•Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills 
•A great deal of energy and enthusiasm 
•Ability to work in a team environment 
•Working knowledge of commercial placement tests and in proficiency tests for university admissions overseas (including VEPT, OOPT, IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC)
