Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur and Penang: English Language Teachers

We need new teachers starting in October or November (start date flexible)

Enhance Education specialises in teaching English. We currently have four teaching centres in Penang State with a total enrolment of more than 2000 students per term and in 2017 we are expanding our operation as Enhance Academy to Kuala Lumpur. In all centres we provide high-quality English language courses in spacious, well-equipped classrooms using interactive student-centred teaching methods. Our courses cover all ages and levels from age 4 years to adults. We are hiring teachers for our new centre in Kuala Lumpur and for some positions in our Penang branches. We especially need teachers with a strong preference for teaching pre-school and primary age students.

We seek teachers who meet all these essential criteria:

- Substantial recent experience of teaching English to students from young learners to teens and adults. 
- Native English speaker with a university degree in any subject. 
- CELTA or Trinity London CertTESOL or equivalent with a substantial element of classroom experience.

We value professional development and we encourage and support teachers to improve their skills. We need teachers who can relate well to students, especially children, and who have an active and lively teaching style. We use a range of well-known coursebooks but teachers can draw on our data-bank and the internet for supplementary materials and have considerable freedom in planning lessons. Most of our students are part-time and study with us for two hours per week. This means that most classes are held at weekends and on some weekday evenings.

We offer a locally competitive pay and benefits package of generous paid leave four times a year, free health and hospitalisation insurance, interest free settling-in and car purchase loans, and employer’s pension contributions. Depending on qualifications and experience, our salary plus pension package starts from RM8,445 per month. Assistance with relocation and baggage costs is also available including 14 nights’ accommodation on first arrival.

Kuala Lumpur 
Our first centre in Kuala Lumpur is based in the suburb of Klang and its first classes will begin in late November. The suburb of Klang has developed extensively in recent years and our centre is in a new retail mall opposite the area’s main shopping centre in Aeon mall. We have taken a complete floor so we are self-contained, but with good access from the public areas. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in the immediate area. Rented accommodation is plentiful, mainly in houses although some new condominiums are being built. Klang is close to the coast and is about 35 kilometres from central Kuala Lumpur. We provide a minibus service for staff who wish to visit central Kuala Lumpur. The city of Kuala Lumpur is modern, vibrant and cosmopolitan with a wide range of recreational and entertainment facilities, and has a large expatriate population. English is widely spoken throughout Malaysia, especially in the cities and suburbs, and most expatriates find it a friendly and easy country in which to live. It is also well connected by air to most of the region and is a great centre from which to take short vacation trips: we try to ensure that our teaching schedule allows for at least 3 holiday periods long enough for regional travel plus a 3-week Christmas break. The cost of living in Kuala Lumpur is much less than in many major cities in the region.

Penang 
We are also recruiting for our 4 centres in Penang. All are close to residential and shopping areas with a wide range of affordable condos having good facilities such as a pool and gym. Commuting to all centres is quite easy and no matter where you teach you can choose to live on either Penang Island or on the mainland. Penang Island is popular with expatriates and Malaysians alike and affords a wide range of recreational and outdoor activities while historical Georgetown has UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Positions in Penang will be from December 2017.
