The University of Professional Studies, Hargeisa, Somaliland is currently recruiting 2 teachers to teach short courses to adult learners beginning in November 2017.
Somaliland is located in the Horn of Africa bordering Djibouti, Ethiopia and Somalia. The region declared independence from Somalia in 1991 and has been fighting for international recognition ever since. Unlike its southern counterpart, Somaliland is safe and secure with a functioning government and democratic elections.
The capital, Hargeisa, is the economic centre of the country. The university is located in the down town area close to a variety of shops, cafes and other facilities. On days off teachers can explore the city and visit other parts of the country including the ancient Laas Geel cave paintings, the beach in Berbera and the mountains in Erigavo.
The university is looking for applicants able to teach some of the following courses:
- Academic English
- Exam Preparation for IELTS
- Proposal Writing
- Research Methodology
- Project Management
Classes are aimed at students who have already obtained a high level of English and are looking to specialize in specific areas or develop certain skills.
REQUIREMENTS
Native or native-level English speaker
BA or BSc in any subject
Teaching Qualification (TEFL, CELTA, TESOL, PGCE etc.)
Minimum one year teaching experience
Willingness to commit to a one year contract
Experience living abroad
DESIRABLE
BA in Business or English
COMPENSATION
Monthly salary of 400USD
