Need two full-time teachers for Advantage Studio, Dec/Jan 2017/18 and Feb/March/April 2018 in Nagoya!

Advantage English needs to fill a full-time, NATIVE English instructor position starting December 2017/January 2018 and late Feb/March/early April 2018. Must be able to teach young children and adults and have a presentation style quality for Advantage Studio work, in front of cameras and lights. Studio work counts as teaching hours and overtime possible for talented teachers of 'Talk Advantage,' our no-textbook method of teaching conversation English. As of now Advantage Studio teachers are Kathleen, Raul and other Advantage English teachers only.

Sponsorship:

Advantage English will provide sponsorship. One-year contracts are standard and renewable. All applicants must have a BA or higher. Do not apply if you do not have a four-year degree, at least. All applicants must be NATIVE speakers. If you have lived in a native English speaking country for a substantial amount of time as a child, you are still welcome to apply. Two year contracts are available for the right person and if you are interested in two-year contracts please state that on cover letter and we will take a very serious look at your application. Two year contracts are layered with more incentives and bonuses and the interview process is more intensive. Two year contracts are getting more and more popular because we have good ones.

Start date:  
December/January 2017-2018.

Competitive salary:  
Instructors are guaranteed from 240,000 to 300,000+yen per month (depending on qualifications and experience), working a max of 28 contact hours and only 7 non-contact hours. Instructors are able to qualify for overtime pay. Guaranteed salary is based genuine ESL experience and qualifications. Applicants will be informed of the probable rate only if contacted for follow up and interview. Contracts are renewable. Completion bonus for teachers who are asked back for another year. You do not need a TESL/TEFL or CELTA to apply but if you do have qualifications, they will be taken into account when determining your salary. We welcome CELTA applicants and usually CELTA will give you a 10,000 salary boost per month above your average rate. We only do this for CELTA, not MA or TESL. However, all credentials will be factored in.

Working hours:  
Instructors who have fulfilled their weekly contact hour load are only required to be in the schools for their classes and for 7 non-contact hours per week. The schedule is blocked fairly well but nobody has the elusive "perfect" schedule. Productive teachers make use of their free time and some would rather nap, but you'll have time in the day to enjoy parks and shopping. Veteran Advantage teachers do have great blocks and schedules however! But all teachers, even newcomers, have opportunity to earn .

Holiday:  
Instructors are off on Monday and Sunday. As of now, the last class on Saturday finishes at 6:30pm. We are also closed on all national holidays. Instructors also have paid vacation during the summer and winter, standard “eikaiwa” style. All national holidays are paid off. Non-paid leave is available after 7 months.

Classes:  
Schedules include a wide mix, from babies to retired folks. The right applicant should be: personable, friendly, cheerful (even when having a bad day), responsible, patient, professional, dependable and kind. Negativism and pessimism are highly frowned upon. We are interested in teaching, first and foremost. We want to provide our students with the best possible teacher, lessons, and service. We hope to see results with all students. Teachers are expected to use the "Talk Advantage" method for kids and adults. Most classes are small with five students max. Training is provided and an experienced Advantage teacher will have the confidence and ability to teach anywhere in the world. (“Talk Advantage” experience is valuable and experienced Advantage teachers have easily found work at other institutions in other countries just by doing a sample lesson. Our methods and techniques enable for the lowest TTT in the industry. Our teachers know how to keep students talking and how to teach them simple, native English.) Work environment:  
Most classes are taught at Advantage English locations conveniently located in the city. All schools are clean and respectable places of work. (We are going to close one school because it is too old but until then some teachers will continue to teach at that location too, the only school that has japanese style toilet. :) There is a gym at one school as well and all teachers are welcome to use the equipment.

Housing:  
Available. No key money. Furnished apartment with wifi, less than 60,000 yen per month, walking distance from school. “Mansion” style apartment with security. Great, single apartment. One month deposit but returned barring damage. Teachers pay for new futon, usually less than 10,000 yen.

Staff:  
Advantage English is managed by Youko, Raul, Claire and Kathleen. Other teachers include Kathleen,Rachel, Amelia, Claire, Rafael, Steve, Charles, Tim, Francis, Brad, Mandy, Brianna etc. Advantage English enjoys a very low turnover rate and 95% of teachers finish their contracts. We hire the best teachers possible and all Advantage personel are responsible, honest and hardworking. Advantage English was founded in 1996 and has continued to grow every since. Advantage English has never failed to pay teachers and always compensates teachers for any extra work they do. Hardworking teachers can always make overtime as long as students are happy with your lesson. Nagoya: It’s a great place to live and work and centrally located in Japan. It’s a big city and has everything Tokyo and Osaka have, but not as hectic and not as much. Japanese lessons: Great lessons at the studio are provided free of charge for all instructors. Books available for rent, free to staff. We have many Japanese study books.
