Summary:
 The English Language Training (ELT) Instructor will plan and conduct English as a Second Language/English as a Foreign Language (ESL/EFL) classroom instruction to Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) military personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position)

  • Apply conventional teaching techniques and computer-based instructional materials to enhance classroom training, with the American Language Course of the Defense Language Institute (DLI) as the core curriculum
  • Adapt and develop instructional materials
  • Participate in the development of computer-based supplementary materials, as needed;
  • Make professional recommendations for improvement of curriculum design, training materials, student administration and training program management
  • Evaluate student performance
  • Advise on the placement and training needs of students
  • Work with the designated customer representative to develop disciplinary processes that allow clear guidance to the student as it relates to the student's academic environment
  • Provide administrative backup for the ELT team leader when necessary

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor's degree in ESL, EFL, English, (Applied) Linguistics or other fields appropriate to the position
  • 1+ years of professional experience teaching ESL/EFL to adults, from basic elementary to advanced English, and planning, preparing, and coordinating instructional activities for adult students. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must speak, read, write, and understand the English language, and shall be free of any speech impediments
  • Must possess a great deal of tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
  • Must have the ability to provide creative classroom delivery in a well-managed classroom
  • Ability to speak a second language, including Arabic, a plus
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

Work Environment:

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions.  Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
