The Job

We are located in the beautiful coastal city of Qingdao, and we are currently holding interviews for English teachers with a genuine desire to teach young learners. Our students are aged between 3 to 15 years old with class sizes of 5 to 12 students per class. We have a close knit team of professional native teachers who are dedicated in providing the best possible quality of education to our students.

We use a well designed British curriculum for our kindergarten kids and American curriculum for elementary students. We believe that in order to provide the best quality of education to our young learners it is essential to invest in our educators. We also aim to instill both the traditional Chinese education and western teaching philosophies to our young learners. We respect our teachers individual teaching philosophy and we allow them to be creative in their teaching. In addition the curriculum and all the teaching materials that the school provides, teachers are encouraged to choose their own resources.

Qingdao The City

Qingdao is a picturesque coastal city that lies on the southern tip of Chinas Shandong Peninsula, located in Jiao Zhou Bay facing the Yellow Sea. Qingdao is well known for its European architecture and attractive coastal landscape. With its abundance of natural beauty and bustling city life, the year round schedule of tourist attractions and events, as well as an extensive public transportation network, Qingdao truly is an ideal place to live in.

The city is famous for its delicious fresh seafood, Tsingtao Beer (Chinas most famous brand), and its colorful panorama of red roofed houses and green trees overlooking the sea. The city has many spaces of parkland and forest, and is close to the Lao Shan Scenic Area which has its own beautiful mountain landscapes and waterfalls.

Main Responsibilities
o Maximum of 25 teaching hours per week
o Average of 30 working hours per week (at least 18 admin hours per month) 
o Class size: 5 to 12 students 
o Student ages: 3 to 15 year olds
o 5 working days per week (Monday & Tuesday off) 
o Plan lessons ahead of time
o Conduct fun and progressive classes 
o Each teacher will be accompanied by a teaching assistant
o Attend meetings and trainings

Compensation
o Excellent salary: 11,000 to 15,000 RMB per month (depending on experience and qualifications) 
o Free hotel stay for one week upon arrival plus airport pick up
o Flight reimbursement: up to 6,000 RMB (paid half after 6 months and half on completion of the contract) 
o Training bonus for the first week: 1,000 RMB 
o Housing allowance: 1,000 RMB per month plus assistance in finding the long term apartment 
o All national holidays (paid) plus 14 personal paid holidays (unpaid) 
o Legal Z work visa provided
o Accident insurance provided
o On going training and program supervision 

Requirements
o Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and South Africa 
o Bachelors degree 
o 120 hour TEFL certificate required to apply for the work visa (No TEFL? We recommend INTESOL, est. 1993, 50% discounts: www.GoldStarTeachers.com/INTESOL) OR at least 2 years teaching experience required 
o Applicants with educational majors may apply without TEFL nor experience
o Clean criminal record
