ACE is accredited by NEAS, an Australian ESL industry standards body, and the minimum requirement for all applicants is an undergraduate degree plus a CELTA, or accredited equivalent. All applicants will be required to provide original or acceptable certified copies of certificates. An equivalent ESL qualification should contain at least 120 hours of classroom instruction, usually intensive over a four-week period, a practical teaching component and should be accredited by a recognized body. ACE is unable to process applications which do not meet these requirements.
ACE is the foremost provider of ELT in Cambodia and is committed to high standards of professionalism. ACE has over 17,000 students currently enrolled in the five campuses, four in Phnom Penh and one in Siem Reap.
The majority of ACE expatriate teachers are employed on a sessional (hourly-paid) basis. Sessional Teacher initially sign six months contract with a renewal of three and six-month contract and one-year contract, each term lasting approximately 10 weeks. The first term (Three months) is determined as a probationary period for all new Teachers which they will be under two types of observation (1) peer observation (2) management observation.
A normal teaching load is 22.5 contract hours per week and classes are scheduled between 6 am –8 pm Mondays to Saturdays.
The hourly rates vary according to the campusas follows:
• Young Learners and Children Program USD 22
• GEP levels 1-10 USD 23
• GEP levels 11-12 and IELTS Preparation USD 25
• Diploma Program USD 26
• Testing and Training USD 24-27
• Non-teaching rate (PD and meetings) USD 11
salaries quoted are gross and subject to Cambodian tax, which is progressive and ranges from 5% to 20%.
