The University of Raparin Language & Development Center is looking for native English teachers to join a mixed staff of Kurdish and foreign professionals. At this moment, the LDC team includes teachers from the US, UK, Australia, and Canada.
The role will include 20 hours/week of classroom instruction, along with up to 8 office hours. There are also opportunities to lead workshops, seminars, and smaller conferences at the university. Staff will teach ESL to undergraduate students as well as teaching general English and IELTS courses to a wide range of ages.
Ranya is a mountain town on the Iran/Iraq border. In the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, there is an autonomous government and high levels of security. Ranya is known for its surrounding mountains, Lake Dukan, archaeological sites and hospitable people.
The University of Raparin is the only public institute in Kurdistan to employ foreign teachers making it an interesting opportunity to be immersed in the culture and help develop the public education sector.
