Teach English in Chainat, THAILAND - May and October start dates

Echo English currently have three positions available in the same English Program, within a school in the capital of the province Chainat.

The school is based in the capital of Chainat, which is located about three hours from Bangkok. There are a total of eight native English teachers at this school, and there’s a friendly community of other teachers who also work in the capital.

The capital of Chainat is a large town, with the school being located about a ten minute walk from the local market, and is also close to the bus station. There are convenience stores in town, and a couple coffee shops across the road from the school and a cafe that serves both Thai and western food, just a short walk down from the school.

The teachers placed at this school will be working in the Mini English program (MEP). The children at school are aged between 4 – 12 years of age. The school provides a curriculum and some resources for the teachers. The school day lasts from 7.45 - 3.30pm. Teachers will have time to plan their lessons within the office for the native English teachers, which is a nice place to relax and chat together, and finish lesson planning and marking assessments.

There are a variety of schedules available, depending on the age group that you feel most comfortable with - Kindergarten, lower Primary, or upper Primary. As well as different subjects available, if you would like to teach English, as well as other subject areas.

This positions begins in mid May 2018.

As this is the beginning of the term, and a time when we have a number of new teachers starting, we also offer two programs.

1. Optional 3 day TEFL + Induction + Chainat teaching position

The 3 day TEFL + Induction + Chanthaburi teaching position is a program for teachers who are looking for further preparation before they start teaching in Chanthaburi. This is held in a hotel in Bangkok, prior to the start date of the school, with hotel check in on May 7, 2018. This program is only open for teachers who already hold a TEFL certificate, and covers aspects of teaching specifically to Thai schools. The 3 day TEFL covers Thai culture, managing a classroom, games and activities that work well in schools here and we share our experiences of living and working in Thailand, giving a great insight into what to expect. There is also an hour of Thai lessons each day, which is taught in a similar style as you’ll be teaching in a school. These lessons will give you some beginner Thai phrases so you can introduce yourself, order food and count. The course is interactive and a great way to get to know other teachers who will also be working in Thailand.

Teachers attending this course, will also attend the induction, and further information is below.

The course is 6,000 THB and includes 5 nights accommodation, free breakfast, lunch and a snack each of these days.

2. Induction + Chainat teaching position - Thursday, May 11, 2018

The one day induction, is held in Bangkok and provides teachers with an opportunity to network with other teachers, hear more about Echo and meet the staff. We also cover information about what to expect at your placement and provide further information about the visa and work permit process. All information covered on this day is information that you’ll have before you arrive, but it’s great to go through it in person, meet you and for everyone to get to know each other.

They will give you advice and support on getting to your school, what to expect, and answer any questions you might have regarding teaching and/or the placement process. This is also an excellent opportunity for our new teachers to get to know each other before the start of term.
