Job Description

ENRICH YOUR CAREER. TEACH IN JAPAN!

We are seeking skilled native-level English speakers to fill elementary, junior high, and high school ALT (assistant language teacher) positions throughout Japan starting in the second, third and fourth quarter of 2014.

In these positions, you will enrich the lives of children by sharing your knowledge of English and communication skills and giving insights into other cultures. Your job is two-fold: language instructor and cultural ambassador. These two aspects are inseparable, and you, as a successful Interac ALT, will become an expert in both. You can expect to teach classes on your own, with a Japanese teacher present to help manage the classroom.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Be a native-level speaker of English and have acquired an education delivered in English for at least 12 years.

- Have graduated from a university with at least a bachelor’s degree.

- Be professional in all aspects of behavior, a team-player, flexible, cheerful, and energetic.

Before you begin, we will offer you the chance to complete a comprehensive initial orientation and training program. Regardless of your prior teaching experience, we will equip you with the practical skills you need to be an effective Interac ALT. We also offer an ongoing training program so that you can further develop your skills.

Interac ALTs generally work Monday to Friday, with assignments scheduled between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm. From time to time, you may be required to work outside of these hours for things like school events.

Prior to arriving in Japan, an apartment is arranged on your behalf as close as possible to where you will be working. The apartments are intended to accommodate one person. Interac will assist in the connection of utilities and associated services.

We have a team of recruiting representatives based in various countries that will receive and process your application. If you pass the initial application screening, a recruiter will contact you for a phone interview to find out more about you and ask some questions regarding your work history, education, and interest in working and living in Japan. If the recruiter feels you have potential, you will be invited to an informational seminar and face-to-face interview.
