Job Description

Teacher Mentors and Trainers of English - Malaysia Nationwide

Would you like to use your skills to help thousands of teachers and millions of school children across Malaysia? British Council Malaysia is recruiting for two exciting projects which will help the Malaysian government to achieve ambitious targets in education.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to experience everyday life in a rapidly developing country, whilst directly contributing to its development. Malaysia offers beautiful beaches, lush rainforests, multicultural towns and cities and is a food lover’s paradise.

On the beautiful island of Borneo in East Malaysia, our unique English Language Teacher Development Project (ELTDP) provides primary teachers with professional support in order to improve the teaching of English in Malaysia. This project would suit Primary and ESL teachers with significant Young Learner teaching and mentoring experience.

Throughout Malaysia, our Professional development of English Language Teachers (ProELT) project aims to strengthen English teaching and learning through language proficiency and pedagogy training of Malaysian English language teachers. This project would suit EFL teachers or state school teachers with a TEFL qualification and five or more years teaching/training experience.

Both projects would suit flexible candidates who are comfortable working independently in often remote, rural locations. Applicants should have:

• an internationally recognised TEFL qualification (Cambridge CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL/PGCE TESOL)

• an undergraduate/university degree

• significant post-certificate teaching experience

Interested applicants should visit our webpage at for more information and to apply. Please search for vacancies in Malaysia to see all opportunities on offer.

CVs and resumes will not be accepted as formal applications.

The British Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all of its partners to share this commitment. British Council appointments are subject to Criminal Records Bureau checks in the UK and equivalent systems overseas.
