BILINGUAL SCHOOL COUNSELOR NEEDED AT THE AMERICAN SCHOOL IN SUNNY CHIAPAS, MEXICO

The American School Foundation of Chiapas, A.C. is looking for passionate and professional full-time K-12 School Counselor. We are interested in people who have a genuine interest education, who value their work as a profession, not a pastime, and who have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Psychology or Counseling related degrees, ideally with at least two years counseling experience in schools. International school experience or IB experience is preferred!

School Counselor K-12: **Position available Immediately 
We are keen to hire creative, enthusiastic, responsible, flexible, well-organized, principled, reflective, caring, mindful and technologically proficient team players. IB experience is preferred. English and Spanish is necessary to serve as a liaison between the school and the local community for social service activities, and other connection opportunities with organizations that can promote practicing our community values within ASFC. Our school counselor supports the academic, personal/social, career, and global perspective development of all students and learning community. They also work collaboratively with the academic department to build and maintain a comprehensive, developmental school counseling program based differentiated instruction, inclusion policies, restorative justice, mindfulness and living the IB learner profile attributes and attitudes.

GENERAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES 
• Serve as advocate and/or intermediary for students. 
• Promote and embody the IB learner profile attributes and attitudes within our ASFC community 
• Confer with parents, faculty, and administrators with regard to students with academic or personal difficulties as necessary. 
•Progress reports and facilitate appropriate interventions. 
• Coordinate career guidance for students and college admissions process. 
• Provide support for the Homeroom program, as appropriate for differentiation practices. 
• Organize and provide orientation for new students, both the incoming ninth grade and new students during the school year. 
• Refer ASFC students and families to external community resources, including testing and International study abroad programs. 
• Advise students and parents on admissions procedures 
• Provide in-service and workshops, as needed, for faculty, students, and parents. 
• Consult with the Director of Admissions on the admissions process for new students

We offer a two year contract; starting AUGUST 2018 (it can be extended after two years) 
-8 hour workday 
-Private and National Health insurance 
-Housing at American School Residencies and/or apartment 
-5 (five) weeks or more paid vacation each year 
-Salary: $12,000.00 pesos net** 
-Round-trip airfare reimbursement per year! 
-Airport pickup 
-VISA processing fees and costs 
-Statutory holidays (Mexican holiday calendar) 
-International Baccalaureate Courses 
-We are part of the Mexican National Association of IB Schools IBAMEX. 
**Starting salary, Masters Degree and/ or experience is considered.
