About Us

The Ivy Education Centre (IEC) is a city leader in providing high-quality and enjoyable English courses to a wide range of ages and levels. Located in the ever-expanding 'Fortune Plaza' in downtown Yuyao, IEC's location means both Chinese and Western amenities are close by, including Starbucks, Burger King, Dairy Queen plus a host of locally-owned restaurants from across China. 

IEC runs a number of "Kids Courses", from kindergarten age to high school as well as business and general English for adults, IELTS exam preparation classes and other stand alone classes. 

Currently, IEC has a small team of foreign teachers but due to high demand is having to expand, and we are looking for the right candidate(s) to help grow our already reputable school. 

Working Hours & Classes

Most classes are 30 minutes - 10 minutes break - 35 minutes. Class sizes vary, but usually no more than 12 students per class. 

Teachers will have a maximum of 22 hours of teaching, with 40 office hours over 5 days with the same two consecutive days off each week.

All teachers have the same two consecutive days off each week.

• Teaching a maximum of 22 classroom hours per week (averages at around 15)
• 40 Office Hours
• Mostly teaching Young Learners, but other classes may arise from time to time

Remuneration

• Monthly salary of 14,000 - 16,000 RMB
• Single Living Apartment Provided
• Flight Allowance of 6,000 RMB

City Details

Yuyao is an ancient, historical city with more than 7000 years of heritage – however, it’s also growing as rapidly and excitingly as some of the bigger cities on China’s developed East Coast. It's clean, green and easy to get around, and was inaugurated as a ‘UN Global Green City’ in 2008. 

Yuyao is ideal for people who want to experience Chinese cultures, both ancient and modern, developed and emerging. As a main centre of international trade in the province of Zhejiang, Yuyao is close to some of the biggest and brightest East Coast cities - Hangzhou, Ningbo and Shanghai are all easily (and cheaply) accessible by high-speed rail and bus. 

Yuyao is surrounded by mountains, rural farming communities and rivers – there are plenty of places to explore for those with an adventurous side.  

Requirements

ESSENTIAL

• Proficient English Speaker (IELTS 8.5 or Higher for Non-Native Speakers)
• Aged 22-55 (Local Work Visa Requirement)
• Hold a BA/BSc Level Qualification, Equivalent or Higher
• Hold a TEFL/ESL/EFL/CELTA/TESOL Qualification, Equivalent or Higher
• No Criminal Record
• Good Health

DESIRABLE

• Previous Teaching Experience
• Previous Experience in China
• Previous Experience with British, Canadian and/or Australian Education Systems
• Positive, Adaptable, Professional and Committed
