Position Title: ESL Teacher
Description of Position:
Job Purpose:
To identify and promote core learning skills and teaching strategies.
To encourage best practice through support, advice and training opportunities.
Responsibilities:
To Lead Curriculum development for ESL.
Plan, prepare, develop and deliver courses of study in ESL to a range of classes according to IB guidelines and school requirements.
Develop and present lesson plans by using a variety of teaching models and techniques in the subject areas.
Research new topic areas, devising and writing new curriculum course materials in ESL as required.
Observe, monitor and assess students’ on-going progress. Prepare assignments and tests for in-school assessment and homework in the subject.
Mentors and models good inquiry practice in the classrooms.
Tailor and differentiate courses of study and lessons to meet the individual needs of student’s levels of academic ability and previous achievement.
Mark work and maintain accurate and complete records of students' academic progress and achievements.
Inform parents of student’s progress of academic performance, attendance, and participation; reporting on all elements of student development at parent-teacher conferences.
Prepare classroom environment and maintain a safe, secure, and stimulating educational environment.
To prepare and implement schemes of work throughout the school appropriate to meet the needs of different ability levels.
Prepare students for qualifications and external examinations.
Candidates with minimum 2-3 years of IB experience will be given preference.
