Immediate Need for English Teachers with Volunteer Program in Costa Rica


Positions open this June, July, August and September in various areas of Costa Rica for placements from 3 months to 1 year!

English Volunteers for Change (EVOLC) is looking for volunteers ready to make a lasting, sustainable impact in Costa Rica. Our volunteer teachers offer classes to children and/or adults in rural/impoverished communities, tourism communities, public schools, as well as organizations and businesses in the public and private sectors. Improving their English language skills enables students to completely change their lives by gaining a better education and more opportunities. Right now we are looking to fill positions assisting staff of the National Institute for Education as well as positions teaching hotel, call center and public school employees among others!

When volunteer teachers arrive, they will participate in a 2-3 day orientation at our office in Costa Rica's capital city, San José. Upon finishing orientation, our volunteers will be taken to their respective teaching communities. Volunteer teachers will live with friendly, prescreened host families in communities throughout the country during their volunteer work. They will be responsible for teaching English classes approximately 20 hours/week and have the rest of their time free to plan their lessons and enjoy Costa Rica!

With English Volunteers for Change volunteers will receive:

- 3 meals a day

- Lodging with a prescreened Costa Rican host family

- Transportation and airport pickup

- Teaching Materials

- A 2-3 day intensive orientation program in San José with hotel stay included

- 24-hour, ongoing support from the EVOLC Program Coordinator

- Site visits from the EVOLC Program Coordinator

-Real immersion as volunteers become a valued member of their community

Qualifications:

*University degree

*TEFL (or equivalent) and some teaching experience

*Native English speaker

*Independence

*Willingness to adapt

*Organization and responsibility

*A strong desire to live in another country

*Commitment to service and volunteerism

*Ability to communicate well with others
