The Volunteer’s Role

We are looking for a volunteer with English teaching experience and basic skills in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint to help support the staff of the Institute of Foreign Affairs. As a volunteer, you will develop and deliver English classes to Lao government officials working in various ministries and agencies; assist in developing and updating the training and curriculum of IFA’s English and IT trainers; improve IFA's staff knowledge of IT terminology (in English) ;and support TESOL training initiatives for local staff.

As a volunteer, you will:

- Develop and update the English and basic computer curriculum (Microsoft Word and PowerPoint) to keep the content new and relevant to students and teachers. This will include documenting new teaching techniques and generating ideas to keep it interesting.

-Deliver effective basic computer training to Lao government officials with a focus on Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, including English language used for computer-related tasks.

- Liaise with development stakeholders, such as Asia Foundation, the US Embassy in Laos, ASEAN Cooperation Unit under MoFA, and the British Embassy Cooperation regarding English language & basic IT development.

-Identify gender mainstreaming activities and initiatives that directly tackle issues relating to inclusion (people with disabilities, indigenous minority groups, and people living with HIV/AIDS).

Essential Academic Qualifications:

- English Language TEFL proficiency and strong communication skills in English (written and oral)

Essential Professional Background:

- Delivering training /workshops

- Teaching or tutoring

- Experience with Microsoft suite of products

- Confidence in teaching basic computer & IT skills

- Cultural adaptability
