Job Description

English Teacher wanted in the North of Spain

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to join our team in September 2019. If you are passionate about teaching, positive, flexible, organised, independent and outgoing we would love to hear from you.

We are a newly established school in Fene, North-west Spain with a small friendly, professional team and over 20 years of experience between us.

We work with all ages from 3 years old up to adults, from beginner to advanced learners. Teachers will typically have classes in the afternoon with the possibility of some morning classes which will include general English and exam preparation classes. The timetable will be 25 teaching hours and 10 hours to prepare lessons. At the beginning, some of those teaching hours will be made up of training, team observation (observing senior teachers as well as senior teachers observing candidates) and feedback.

We will also provide regular training sessions throughout the year as teacher development is a priority for our team. In addition, we will help new teachers find Spanish classes, if interested, as well as accommodation.

The area:

Fene is a small town located close to Ferrol, both with a prestigious ship-building tradition. There is easy access to a number of incredible beaches and forests and the main city, A Coruña, is a short drive away. Our corner of Galicia is famous for its seafood, wine, folk tradition, surfing and of course the beautiful, rugged, unspoilt landscape. So, whether you prefer to spend time trying fabulous tapas in the bars of Ferrol or searching for the next wave to surf there are a whole host of activities to get involved in and friends to be made. A little further afield you have the vibrant capital city Santiago de Compostela, a University town with beautiful architecture and a fantastic nightlife. The Roman walls of Lugo, the thermal baths in Ourense and the many lively culinary music festivals all over Galicia mean you will never be at a loss for places to explore.

Travel:

La Coruña (40 mins) and Santiago de Compostela (60 mins) both have airports with direct flights to Heathrow, Stansted and other major European cities. Public transport is economic and regular. Second-hand cars are affordable if you wanted a little more freedom/flexibility.

Requirements:

  • C2 level
  • Must be able to legally work in the EU
  • Criminal record certificate required from native country
  • Preferable to have certificate (CELTA/DELTA/TEFL) or university degree in education, English or related field
  • Prior teaching experience is highly valued
  • Enthusiastic, dynamic, sociable and creative personality

Job information:

  • Competitive local salary - 1100 euros per month after tax
  • 9 month contract from October to June, Monday to Friday with possibility of renewal
  • Paid Christmas and Easter holidays, plus national, regional and local holidays
  • Full Social Security contract and insurance cover
