Teach English of become the school librarian in Quintana Roo, Mexico!

Na’atik Language and Culture Institute is a social enterprise dedicated to high-level cross-cultural language education. Located off the beaten path in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo, Mexico, Na’atik makes its home in the heart of the Zona Maya, approximately an hour south of Tulum and two hours north of Belize.

We are looking for 3 qualified, enthusiastic English teachers for our August 2019 - June 2020 school year. Versatile and creative, the ideal applicants would thrive while teaching primary school students, adolescents, and young adults. In addition, one of our three teachers will work with learners who are 4-5 years old.

Required Qualifications (please do not apply if you do not meet the required qualifications):

Native English speaker 
Degree from an accredited university 
A TEFL/CELTA/TESOL teaching certification and 1 year of classroom teaching experience or a 4-year degree in primary or secondary education 
Adventurous and independent spirit 
Willingness to help organize and participate in special events and field trips

Preferred Qualifications: 
Communicative Spanish 
Experience working in the developing world 
Experience with development or non-profit work

In addition to three English teachers, we are looking for an enthusiastic, creative language school librarian to develop, promote and provide free library programming for our English language students. Na’atik’s librarian will also plan and conduct lessons and activities in direct collaboration with the school’s English language teachers.

Duties Include:

Creating enjoyable activities in the library for English language students 
Welcoming and orient students to the library, its programs, and its resources 
Collaborating with English teachers to integrate the library into the English language program 
Promoting library programs for students and parents 
Managing volunteers from the local community and our study abroad program 
Working with the English teachers and study abroad students to create intercultural activities amongst students 
Maintaining the library catalogue and manage all aspects of circulation 
Assisting students with selecting and checking out books 
Maintaining all library resources and materials 
Working with our Communications and Fundraising Manager to acquire new materials and research library grant opportunities 
Organizing and assist with special events and field trips 
Teaching substitute English classes, when necessary

Required Skills: 
Native English speaker 
Experience working in school libraries 
Degree from an accredited university 
One year teaching experience 
Strong organizational and time management skills 
Strong collaboration and social skills 
Commitment to the institute's mission of affordable education 
Proactive and willing to learn 
Ability to work independently 
Adventurous and independent spirit 
Basic Spanish

Desired Skills: 
Library science degree 
Experience in the developing world 
Experience creating and managing library programs
