Native English Speaking Teachers Needed in Savannaket, Laos

Savannakhet Summer School has been running since 2015 aims at bringing native speakers to teach basic English courses in the central part of Laos. Our vision is to bring some of the benefits of high- quality education to areas outside the capital, Vientiane. Our location, Savannakhet is a laid-back town on the Mekong River which, so far, has been untouched by tourism. It also has great access to surrounding attractions and activities; apart from the attractions of Laos and Thailand, it takes less than half a day’s travel to the borders with Vietnam and Cambodia. 
The programme is viewed as a summer school, so learning and fun can both have their place in class time. Discipline is rarely an issue in teaching such classes: students are excited (and a little scared at their first experience of learning with a foreigner.) We use the Let’s Go and New English File books as the basis for the course, but teachers are more than welcome to add relevant material and activities to the programme that they teach. The books come with lesson plans and complete explanation of material to be covered. 
We are looking for native speakers to teach English classes full-time and also (perhaps) part-time to mostly teenagers and young adults. Class sizes will be kept small at 15 to 20 students. At Beginner level and (if required) at Elementary, teachers will be accompanied by a Lao-speaking teaching assistant.

The programme will commence on June 24th and will run to the middle of August. We may require additional teachers after the 24th as registration is completed. In addition there are other classes already running and plans for an adult summer programme to commence in July. Contracts can be renewed for the continuation of courses in September.

Classes run Monday to Friday. Full-time staff can expect contact time with students (including Friday supervision) to be a maximum of 20 to 25 hours. We will allow a few days leave also during the programme if class cover can be arranged.

Salary (if full- time) will be calculated as $1200 pcm and would include a free lunch. A part-time contract is also possible as is the option of extra hours. We will also pay for a visa after the teacher has entered Laos.
