at Chinese High Schools and Universities
The International Academic Alliance (IAA) seeks highly-qualified TESOL teachers to teach Academic English in Chinese high schools and universities. This teaching position within an American university-affiliated English program provides teachers with a growth-oriented opportunity to diversify their teaching portfolios, gain experience in English curriculum development, and be mentored by American university faculty towards professional development.

Instructors teach intensive English courses to American college- or graduate school-bound Chinese students within the Academic English Program (AEP), a collaborative program developed between IAA and American universities.TheAEPcurricul
Responsibilities
Hourly commitment: Teachers will instruct 20 hours per week and will spend up to an additional 20 hours per week conducting writing labs and holding one-on-one student conferences at theirAEPteaching site.
Work closely with your assigned program university or high school’sAEPteaching cohort (up to 3AEPteachers) and the Director of Studies on:AEPcurricula; course delivery; managing or resolving classroom and student issues; and program development and evaluation.
Participate in ongoing professional development events as part of theAEPfaculty, including: teacher trainings; professional mentorship with theAEP’s American university faculty; curriculum evaluation; etc.
Compensation
$2,000.00 starting base salary
Round-trip airfare and medical insurance provided
Accommodations: Well-appointed private 1-bedroom apartments close to program site for teachers’ personal use provided
Z Visa sponsorship and assistance with all visa procedures
Employment Contract Term: 11-month teaching contract with possibility of a $1,000.00 bonus at the end of the contract year based on teaching performance evaluations, along with a contract renewal option based on performance evaluation with additional $1,000.00 bonus upon renewal signing.
In addition, following the teacher’s annual performance review based on peer, student, and director evaluations and in meetingAEPprogram standards, teachers would be eligible for incremental salary increases.
Candidate Qualifications
Applicants must be willing to relocate to various major cities throughout China byFebruary 15, 2014, with their teaching assignment extending throughJanuary 15, 2015.
Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree with TESOL certification, or be an experienced ESL educator currently in a TESOL certification training program.
An ability to adapt to a new culture and previous experience teaching or traveling abroad is preferred, but not required.
