Job Description

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST NEEDED AT THE AMERICAN SCHOOL IN SUNNY CHIAPAS, MEXICO

The American School Foundation of Chiapas, A.C. is looking for passionate and professional full-time Educational Technology Specialist. We are interested in people who have a genuine interest education, who value their work as a profession, not a pastime. This position will be a key participant in reshaping the learning process for our students.

Responsible for:

  • Identifying appropriate educational technology for all types of classroom applications, including the needs of special education students
  • collaborating with educators and administrators in curriculum design by sourcing or creating new technologies to be used in classroom instruction and online learning
  • Using past program data and outcomes, assisting school directors in identifying and correcting problems and deficiencies within current technology-based programs
  • Training teachers and others on using hardware and software in the learning process
  • Fostering both appreciation for and understanding of how technology can impact learning and in turn, each student’s future
  • Identifying, designing, and effectively incorporating technology plans, tools, and programs into the school’s learning environment
  • Teaching and developing curriculum for Innovation Lab lessons to ASFC students
  • Teaching coding and programming as part of their classes
  • Preparing students for Worldwide Innovation events and projects
  • Looking for or obtaining grants that support investments for the Innovation Labs
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and the curriculum, in order to enhance and connect technology transdisciplinary
  • Developing new sources of income for the school where possible through the use of technology, i.e. developing a Platform for Online School Courses

Skills required:

  • Knowledge of technology-based learning software, hardware and applications and their use in an education setting
  • Programming and coding skills
  • Excellent Team player and collaborator
  • Well-organized with proficiency in technology
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience in teaching and classroom management
  • Preferably bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership skills
  • Creativity, innovation and forward thinking

Contract details: 

  • We offer a two year contract; starting August 2020 (it can be extended after two years) 
  • 8 hour workday 
  • Private and National Health insurance 
  • FREE Housing at American School Residencies (2-bedroom apartments with kitchen, living room and dining room, and full bathroom; air conditioning, swimming pool, recreation area, laundry room, small gym, security, free Wi-Fi, in school grounds and private neighborhood
  • 5 (five) weeks or more paid vacation each year 
  • Round-trip airfare bonus per year!
