Language Link Vietnam - teachers needed for 2014-2015 Schools Program

Language Link Vietnam has a successful schools program with over 24 locations around Hanoi. The program has been running for five years now and is seeking to recruit teachers for the 2014-2015 academic year with schools starting as early as July. Our teachers have access to all the resources of Language Link’s language centers as well as tech solutions to help them keep organized and connected with a large network of teachers. Schools Link is a great way to integrate oneself into the culture of Hanoi and work within the Vietnamese school system, but with the support and resources of a large company.

Our program has teachers in both primary and secondary schools. Your post is assigned based on experience and expertise. Class sizes are limited to 25 students and are taught with the help of a teaching assistant, who in many cases is an English teacher from the public school. Part of our goal is to have a cultural exchange of different teaching strategies and ideas. Most assistants are eager to share their experience and learn from yours.

The main textbooks used are Pearson Longman’s, ODI (Our Discovery Island) for primary classes and Solutions put out by Oxford University Press. Schools Link teachers are provided with texts, pacing guides, flashcards, and other resources to help them teach their students.

Roles and responsibilities

• Teaching the provided syllabus using ESL methods

• Creating and administering engaging speaking activities

• Administering quarterly and final tests

• Participating in mandatory training workshops and meetings

• Attending parent-teacher meetings annually

• In certain circumstances, working or covering at the Language Center

• Finding a means of transportation to and from the school

• Regular communication with our office

All Full Time contracts also offer

• 18-21 USD per hour based on experience

• An additional 4USD per hour off-site bonus

• Completion bonus and severance payment

• 16 days paid annual leave

• 10 days paid national holidays (inc. Christmas Day)

• Full Inpatient and Evacuation Medical Insurance

• Visa & Work Permits

• Setup of a local bank account

• Guaranteed minimum of 70 hours monthly payment.

Required qualifications

1. Two years of related ESL experience

2. University diploma

3. A CELTA, Trinity or equivalent TEFL teaching certificate

4. A clean Police Clearance Check

5. Must be a native English speaker or equivalent with evidence of high proficiency

• Committed- willing to stay until contract completion

Other details

Position start dates are from August 2014. Our induction week will be August 25th-29th. The School Year runs from September to May. Schools Link teachers will join the Summer School team at our Language Centers for June/July 2015 and will have the month of August off. Though the majority of our Schools Link teachers teach exclusively at the Vietnamese public schools, a few may be required to teach a few days per week at one of our Language Centers.
