Mathematics Instructor (Full-time)

American International University (AIU), located in Kuwait, invites applicants for full-time position of Mathematics Instructor beginning March 2021. The ideal candidate will possess a vision of excellence in instruction and a commitment to students’ academic success. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

Provides on-line and/or face-to-face instruction to AIU students. Teaches developmental and/or college-level mathematics courses. Responsible for preparing and delivering lectures, moderating classroom discussions, administering, and grading examinations. Maintains accurate grade and attendance records. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Utilizes the approved curriculum. Develops clearly stated course objectives and learning outcomes.
• Ensures the objectives and content of the courses taught are current and updated.
• Keeps accurate classroom records.
• The ability to assist students with college-readiness skills.
• Has excellent communication skills, can relate to students, other faculty, and University staff, and the ability to handle a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Supports department assessment initiatives.
• Uses and updates the required course management system.
• Meets deadlines and evaluates student work in a timely manner including submitting Show/No Show reports, midterm grades, and final grades.
• Be a team player, have strong leadership skills, and possess a high-energy level and a positive attitude.
• Communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
• Does lecture planning, organizes, and prioritizes job duties in order to meet deadlines.
• Supports department assessment initiatives.
• Other duties as required or assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in mathematics or related field.
• College-level teaching experience
• Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication
• Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success
• Technology capability (access to WIFI, computers) to teach remotely
• Experience using technology to teach
• Applicants must meet the credential and guidelines given by Private Universities Council (PUC).
