Role Purpose:
To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English across our teaching operations
To support the delivery of high-quality services for our young learner classes, working closely with the Academic, Operations, Marketing and Sales and Customer Management teams
To contribute to and implement Burma Teaching Centre strategy and objectives in order to meet learner income and impact targets and enhance British Council’s reputation in Burma as an expert provider of ELT
Main accountabilities:
Support British Council’s global English strategy by
Overseeing quality academic and service delivery for our Primary and Secondary students
Preparing and delivering teaching to the highest standards of ELT
Continuing regular professional development and sharing of best practices
Ensuring teaching meets learner needs and expectations
Ensuring teaching meets Teaching Quality Standards and organisational expectations
Finishing administrative tasks in a timely and accurate fashion
Maintaining good relationships with customers and colleagues
Taking part in teaching centre promotional and educational activities where required
Main duties
Supporting the Management team to build and deliver a joined-up quality teaching offer for our Primary Plus and Secondary Plus courses
Support good relationships in our young learners and their parents by working closely with the Sales and Customer management team in all teaching locations
Helping ensure teaching meets Teaching Quality standards and organisational expectations.
Maintaining and developing of training and teaching materials as required.
Assisting the management team with wider services, and events to promote and position our teaching offer
Qualification
Essential
Cambridge CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL or equivalent
High proficiency in English - full mastery of English across all 4 skills-equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 9 in each of 4 sections of the academic module
Undergraduate degree or equivalent
Recognised diploma in EFL (i.e. DELTA/Trinity DipTESOL) or PGCE (with assessed teaching practice and a secondary focus)
Desirable
TYLEC or YL extension to CELTA
Relevant postgraduate qualification (MA) (TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education etc.)
Experience
Essential
2 years full-time post certificate (i.e. CELTA/Trinity certTESOL) experience gained from teaching a variety of age groups and levels of young learners and adults
Note : a minimum of 2400 hours of experience should have been gained from teaching the following age groups:
- Young learners aged 7 -17
Effective communication and engagement with children and their families.
Salary information and other benefits
Salary starts from USD 1305 + supplement (GBP 645), per month
Annual leave of 35 + 15 days of paid leave
Accommodation allowance of USD400 per calendar month for unaccompanied employee or employee with partner (couple) / Accommodation allowance of USD535 per calendar month for accompanied employee with child(ren)
Flight cost will be sponsored for the incoming and at the end of the fixed term contract of employment with British Council Myanmar
Baggage allowances up to £1,200 for unaccompanied employees / up to £2,000 for employees accompanied by family members.
Entitled to a settling-in allowance equivalent to two weeks’ salary for single employees, or three weeks’ salary for employees accompanied by family members, to help you to meet your initial expenses on first arrival in Myanmar.
