Academic Director Position: YBM Gangnam (Seoul)

Starting Date: March 3, 2014

YBM Education Inc. is seeking qualified and passionate candidates to lead its team of teachers at its YBM Gangnam center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Being sensitive to the needs of the school, teachers, and students the Academic Director should be committed to implementing a high-quality academic program within the guidelines set by YBM Education’s head office. Good communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to handle a wide variety of job duties is essential.

Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the YBM Gangnam Center Director and the National Academic Director for YLI’s adult EFL division, the Academic Director is responsible for overseeing the implementation of all academic policies and procedures relating to the YBM Gangnam EFL programs and classes. Specifically, the AD is responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and professional development of all instructional staff, as well as overseeing curriculum/materials development, and conducting/scheduling student placement and exit testing,

Working Hours:

9:00 a.m. ~ 6:00 p.m. (8 hours per day), Monday through Friday


• Salary commensurate with work experience and academic qualifications

• Housing: deposit of up to 10,000,000 KRW + monthly housing stipend

• Severance pay, pension, and medical insurance in accordance with Korean labor


• Yearly performance bonus

• 10 vacation days + Korean national holidays

• Pre-paid round trip airfare (if hired outside Korea)

• Visa processing costs reimbursed


• Over 2 years of full-time and continuous adult EFL teaching experience in

South Korea

• Prior supervisory and/or teaching-training experience in an EFL context

• Bachelor’s degree (postgraduate degree preferred)

• CELTA/TESOL qualifications

• Scanned copies of apostilled university degree, apostilled federal-level

criminal records check (fingerprint based RCMP check for Canadian citizens),

and any relevant teaching certificates (needed

regardless of current visa status)

• Scanned copies of the information page of your passport, and National

Registration Card (if residing in Korea)
