ESL Teacher
Wailly LewisESL Teacher
Colegio Evangelico Nueva Luz is located in Nagua, on the north coast of the Dominican Republic.
Our school offers formal Spanish education to pre-school, elementary, middle and High school students of
Nagua area.
Our school has 270 students, aged from 3-14.
We started a new Bilingual Project in September 2011, teaching ESL to students whose parents who place them in the program. The program currently has 25 students. The children are eager to learn English and engage in lessons.
We aim to encourage the students to value education, to mentor them, and to bring to this area all the improvements delivered by better
education. Because the classes are in small groups, we are looking for someone energetic, innovative, someone who can think out of the box when lesson planning with limited resources and who can get on the kids level.
Requirements:
Colegio Nueva Luz is seeking a volunteer ESL teacher for early-years students (from 3 to 12 years old).
The school day is from 8am-1pm. There are different time blocks for each grade.
We are looking for ESL volunteers who have a passion for working with children and who are flexible and adaptable to a changing environment. Because the program is in its early stages, we are looking for someone who is eager to contribute new ideas and approaches. We value someone with a positive outlook and open mind towards different cultures.
We don't require the TELF certification, but its advantageous. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
The initial contract will begin in January 2013 - June 2013.
Volunteers will be provided with meals and housing (and transport to/from the airport at the start/end of the
contract). Accommodation would be in a small, one bedroom apartment attached to the principal's house.
This position is for an immediate start. The school year is underway already.
This posting replaces previous job postings from CNL. Individuals who have previously applied to CNL are invited to apply again
should you still wish to be considered for this position.
Our current volunteers, Andrea and Athina, are happy to answer any questions or concerns you might have. Please feel free to contact them at any time.
