EFL Instructor Needed in Yachay Tech

The English Language Program at Yachay Tech is expecting a need for approximately 2-3 English language teaching professionals to begin no later than October 12, 2015.

This is primarily a teaching position but also involves regular professional expectations associated with language teaching. Instructors have 16 in-class contact hours and 4 tutoring hours per week, and are expected to maintain regular office hours. In addition, instructors participate in ongoing program and curriculum development. Experience with pedagogical technologies and curriculum design are an advantage. The program is intended to provide incoming university students with the skills to achieve a B2 level of language proficiency on the Common European Framework (CEFR). Courses are integrated skills and range from false beginners to low B2, so applicants should demonstrate experience with teaching a variety of skills and levels

Yachay Tech is a new and rapidly growing institution. The position therefore requires a great deal of flexibility and an ability to deal with ambiguity. A high level of collaboration between colleagues is required and expected. Teachers should be able to work well in groups as well as independently, as required.

Location: Universidad de Investigación de Tecnología Experimental Yachay (Yachay Tech); Urcuquí, Imbabura Province, Ecuador

Salary: $2034/month with benefits and housing allowance; 12-month contract with option for renewal

Degree: Masters in TESOL (TEFL, CELTA, etc.), or MA with TESOL Certification

Experience: minimum of 3 years of ESL/EFL teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications: English-Spanish bilingualism preferred but not obligatory (although demonstrated bilingualism an advantage); experience with materials and curriculum development
