We're now hiring counselors for our Autumn camp in south-eastern France from October 20 - 29, 2016.
American Village Camps seek energetic, creative, initiative-takers who are native English speakers & love working with children at our camps in France. Counselors live on camp! They create and lead activities, as well as English classes.

American Village camps are for French children, ages 7 to 17 years old. Our English-immersion camps have been creating a positive environment where it is fun, natural & necessary to use English for over 20 years! We hire North American, British, and French counselors for periods of 1 to 10 weeks between the months of February & October at a variety of locations across France.

Counselors are responsible for the safety and well-being of the campers under their care. Counselors lead by example.
They will brainstorm fun skits, activities and ESL class ideas based on the camp's themes. These themes are based on US American history, arts, sports, culture, ecology, and language. Each counselor is an important member of a multi-cultural counselor team in the village!

- A salary for all days worked, 880 euros / month

- International counselors may request a voucher for one free night's hotel stay upon arrival in Paris, France.
- International counselors coming from outside the EU/Schengen Zone may request a 150€ defrayal of air travel to France (therefore, not available for flights from the UK / Ireland, or anywhere in the EU).
- All counselors may request a 50€ defrayal of train travel to their village.
- Accident insurance while working for work-related injuries.
- Nacel will pay any work-related transportation costs if the counselor has to change work locations.

Qualifications
We seek camp counselors who are native English speakers.
- Previous camp counseling / childcare experience
- Clear criminal history
- 20 years old is the minimum age requirement for foreign counselors. A typical applicant is between 20 and 35 years old.
- High school diploma from a high school in an Anglophone country & correct grammar and spelling on application.
- Be capable of organizing activities : sports, arts & crafts, dance, large scale games, etc.
- Be excited about performing in skits, telling stories, leading songs & cheers, etc.
- Know enough about USA History and Culture to create lesson plans and games
- Be a team player, be organized, and be able to disconnect from technology during working hours (no smartphones while with the kids).

Working at American Village Camps is a good first ESL job.

- Creating lesson plans (2 hrs of ESL class, daily)
- Using and learning more ESL games
- Working with young learners that do not have a high level of English
- Practicing TPR
- Perfecting your communication skills
- Meeting other ESL teachers
All the while having fun with games and activities in English.

For more seasoned ESL teachers, it is a good fit if you are ready to get out of the classroom and onto the playing field! This is a language camp counselor job, there are no ESL office hours, if the kids have questions, they will ask you while playing with you in activities!
