CEDEI is situated in Cuenca, Ecuador. CEDEI seeks qualified English teachers to start AUGUST 2017 at our preschool and K-12 program, for the full school year of mid-August to end of June. CEDEI is a non-profit institution of higher learning founded in 1992, dedicated to the study of American languages and cultures. To foster understanding among the people of the Americas, our organization sponsors a variety of academic activities independently and in conjunction with universities in North and South America.
Cuenca, Ecuador is located high in a valley in Ecuador's southern Andes. Cuenca is a city of more than 500,000 people and is the third largest city in the country. Cuenca enjoys spring-like temperatures year round. In 1999, Cuenca was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site and in the last few years has been considered one of the best places to live and retire.

English teachers for all content areas, teaching children in our preschool, elementary, high school
Qualifications:
Qualifications required: a Bachelor's Degree, a TEFL/CELTA/TESOL or other related certificate, and must be a native English speaker or native-like fluent English speaker. Desired qualifications also include experience working with any grade levels and content áreas.
Duties: 16-22 contact hours per week with opportunities for extra tutoring. School day is 7:30am-1:30pm, Monday - Friday. CEDEI also offers an environment where teachers are supported in their professional development by our International Coordinator and with materials from our resource room.
Term Start Dates: Monday, August 28, 2017. Teachers are expected to arrive by Monday, August 14 to be part of a two-week, paid orientation before the cycle starts, and to arrange accommodations.

Upon receipt and approval of your résumé, 3 letters of reference, and the online application form, we will schedule a telephone interview with you.
Compensation: $430 per month for four days per week. Teachers with an BA in Education are paid $450 per month and teachers with an MA in Education or other related field are paid $470 per month. Teachers who choose to work five days per week will receive a corresponding increase of 20% per month. Teachers can also take tutorial classes based on student needs.
CEDEI is a non-profit organization and while teachers don’t earn a lot of money by international standards, they do earn enough to live comfortably in Ecuador and gain much in teaching experience and cultural exchange.
Other perks include free Spanish classes and computer use with internet access (wireless at all our sites). Salsa dance instruction and an available lending library are accessible to all teachers. CEDEI offers help finding accommodations in Cuenca. CEDEI offers optional low-cost health insurance. Visa and airfare fees are the teacher's responsibility. CEDEI sponsors a volunteer visa in order to teach in Ecuador, which CEDEI will reimburse in part.

Volunteer visa $200
Teachers have to pay for the total cost of the visa when they apply for it at the Ecuadorian Consulate, but CEDEI reimburses 50% of the total cost when teachers are on staff.
