Volunteer position

In Partnership with the local Department of Education, the Nukanti Foundation is offering short-term opportunities to work with youth in Risaralda, Colombia—the heart of the coffee region.

Worksite: Colombia, Risaralda Department
Type: Volunteer position (though accommodation, meals, and work-related internal
transportation will be provided)
Duration: 4 months, Aug 1 – Nov 30, 2014
Supervisor: Colombia Director

Project Deliverables
• Assist English teachers in rural Risaralda Colombia, engaging in conversational activities with the students and instructors
• Create and deliver a daily after-school activity of your choosing that engages youth in English conversation exercises. (Past topics have included sports, arts, conversation club, etc.)
• Participate in introductory and regular meetings with local staff and stakeholders
• Provide constructive feedback about how the teaching model and/or curriculum could be modified to improve teaching results

Candidate Attributes
• Native English speaker
• Completion of college coursework
• Previous teaching/training/mentoring experience is beneficial but not required
• Spanish language skills are beneficial but not required.
