Contract: 2 years
Role Purpose
- To plan and deliver high-quality EFL teaching to a range of learners and using a variety of methods/channels.
- To fully engage with the Teacher Support Programme through mentoring by Delta qualified Teacher Mentors and attending INSETTs/
Main Accountabilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver up to 20 hours of high-quality English Teaching in the first year.
- During the second year of the contract after graduation from TSP, teaching hours will be 25 hours per week of high-quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups taking into account individual learning styles.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students performance throughout the course, and actively promote learner autonomy
- Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials, and related services, in order to meet student's needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team.
- Complete teaching-related administrative tasks to specified standards.
- Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning and maintain British Councils position at the forefront of best ELT practices.
In the initial year of the contract, Teachers on the TSP undertake:
Training Programme
- Attendance at training sessions and INSETTS as scheduled (up to 2 per week)
- Observations by the training/management team/mentor per term
- Peer observations by teacher on the TSP per term
Meetings
- Attendance of pre-and post-observation meetings with a member of the training/management team/mentor.
- Attendance at Training Days and Teachers Meetings unless scheduled to teach British Council courses at that time.
Requirements
- High proficiency in English: i.e. Full mastery of English across all four skills, equivalent to CEFR C2 and IELTS band 8/9 (in each of the four sections of the academic version of the test).
- Undergraduate university degree or equivalent.
- Recognised certificate in EFL: CELTA, Trinity cert TESOL or equivalent.
Passport requirements/ right to work in-country
This opportunity is open to Egyptian and UK nationals. Work permits can only be obtained via the British Council for the UK and Egyptian passport holders. Under 60 years of age at the start of the contract. Applicants must have a passport that is valid for at least six months from the start date and have a minimum of 2 clear pages to obtain visas.
Benefits
- 2-year Mobile Contract (recruited from the UK or British Council in the network):
- The total salary is composed of 2 elements: a local salary a sterling supplement
- Local salary (to be paid into a local bank account) in monthly payments of 10,785LE and the sterling supplement is 315GBP
- 2-year Local Contract (based in Egypt)
- Local salary (to be paid into a local bank account) in monthly payments of 10,785LE
- 35 days per annum paid leave plus public holidays (currently 14 days)
