ESL Jobs in Bhutan Teach English in Bhutan
Bhutan is one of the world's most isolated countries (both culturally and geographically) situated in the region of the Himalayas.
The Bhutan Ministry of Education is interested in developing a course of studies that meets the standards of other English speaking countries. English is the language of instruction in Bhutan and the government is interested in improving the level of English of all its citizens. To achieve this goal, the government of Bhutan wants an English curriculum that meets international standards. Since 1985, the University of New Brunswick has played a central role in helping Bhutan to have the fastest developing system of education in the world. The UNB/Bhutan Project links the faculty of education at UNBF to the education department of the Royal Government of Bhutan. Its main goals are to strengthen the capacity of teacher training institutes in Bhutan, upgrade the academic background of secondary-school teachers and post-secondary lecturers, and enhance the capacity of the curriculum and professional support services and the Bhutan Board of Examinations.
It also assists Bhutan in strengthening its capacity in education (English and mathematics), computer science, and engineering. It does this by providing scholarships and work attachments to Bhutanese educators, and long- and short-term consultants to Bhutan's education department.
