ESL Jobs in Uzbekistan Teach English in Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is a country in Central Asia, formerly part of the Soviet Union. It shares borders with Kazakhstan to the west and to the north, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to the east, and Afghanistan and Turkmenistan to the south. The only official language, Uzbek, is a Turkic language, but Russian continues to be widely used, a holdover from Soviet rule.
Since it's split from the unified USSR, Uzbekistan and the rest of the former Russian states have seen a large increase in demand for foriegn English teachers to teach in their country. While Russian has remained the first language after it's split, the population of Uzbekistan are aware of the importance of learning English and many are wishing to do so.
Interested English teacher however face the difficulty of obtaining a visa, which with the heavily beaucratic government process for such things, can prove exceptionally difficuly. Many schools try to go around this, but we very carfeul if you are thinking of teaching there illegally, and the the repercussions it could spell. Definetely make sure that you have done your homework in the visa department, before going. For other areas, most positions are volunteer in nature.
